Empty Bowls benefit raises $1,300 for food pantries

LEBANON - The West Lebanon community Ladies Circle of Lebanon announced its third annual Empty Bowl benefit soup dinner was a huge success.

The dinner made over $1,300 which will be donated between The First Parish Church Food Pantry, Lebanon, and the other half to The York County Food Pantry in Alfred.

The fund-raiser was organized and sponsored by potters such as: Salmon Falls Stoneware, Southern Maine Clay Guild, Pelletier of Kennebunk, Cathie Cantara of Homeport Pottery, Elaine Fuller of Red Door Pottery, Potters Annie Littlefield, Clare Rogers, Heather Abt, Wendy Jackson, Kathleen King of Kat's Ketch Pottery, Richard Winslow, Cathy Hammond of The Maine Potters Market, Amy Clark of Ocean Fire Studio, Chris Davis Pottery, students at Sanford High and at Noble High.

Restaurants that donated soup or chowder are Noble High School Culinary Arts Program, Jimmy Jones Locker, Lakeside Market, Benedicts, Salmon Falls Café and Stokewood’s Restaurant. Pigs Will Fly donated bread, Friendly’s of Rochester crackers, and Hannafords donated paper supplies.

Members also donated soup, of which there were 16 different types.
