GILFORD - The Ellacoya Barn & Grill is a unique restaurant that was converted from a 19th-century barn to a charming eatery that boasts a lively, convivial atmosphere amid rustic, rough-hewn backdrop.
But while the atmosphere is all country, the cuisine is all culinary exceptionalism, with hearty, distinct flavors that will surprise the palate.
I got the grilled chicken feta wrap ($15), without the wrap as I am gluten free.
They offered me a gluten free bun, but I said no, and I'm glad I did, because now nothing stood between me and the flavorful plate I enjoyed.
The grilled chicken was topped with garlic mayo and apple and pear chutney and feta cheese on a bed of fresh greens with a huge helping of sweet potato fries on the side.
The chutney was a wonderful surprise to my taste buds well complemented by

the garlic mayo, of which I am a big fan.
The plate took almost 20 minutes to prepare, but I enjoyed the time drinking in the comfy confines of the restaurant, which includes a horseshoe bar that draws a friendly crowd of regulars and tourists alike.
Next time you're headed up to Gunstock or The Weirs check out this lovely roadside eatery. You'll be glad you did.
