SOMERSWORTH - Eileen Marie (Davies) Galvin, 92, of Somersworth, died peacefully surrounded by her loving family at her home on Sunday, January 9, 2022. Born in Bostons on September 15, 1929, Eileen was the daughter of Henry Davies and Nora Agnes (Toomey). Dear sister of the late Leo Davies, the late Harry Davies and the late Dorothy (Davies) Pierce.
Eileen was the beloved wife of 53 years to the late John Thomas Galvin, Jr. A loving and devoted mother to seven children - Karen Ann and her husband Eugene Tafoya of Prescott, Ariz.; Kathleen of Somersworth; John Thomas III of Auburn, ME; Joan Marie of Somersworth; Christine of Parker, Colo., Paul Joseph of Somersworth and the late Angela Galvin. She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.
After graduating from Somerville (MA) High School, Eileen worked for several years as a highly skilled typist and secretary for The Record American newspaper and also at the Court House in Boston. When she got married, Eileen became a fully devoted, caring and loving wife and mother.
While she lived in Arizona, Eileen loved to travel and explore the western states. She even hiked 15 miles each way on The Bright Angel Trail for a two-night stay at the bottom of the Grand Canyon National Park in Flagstaff, Ariz. A once-in-a-lifetime experience, Eileen enjoyed such an awesome adventure hiking one of the seven natural wonders of the world.
A devout Catholic, she dedicated her life to her family. Eileen was truly a precious, loving Gift from God in Heaven to her family, friends and all those who knew her. She will always be fondly remembered for the endless love, caring and cherished memories she gave us. We were so richly blessed and tremendously thankful to God for such a wonderful, loving mother who will be greatly missed.
