ROCHESTER - An Eastside man was arrested on Friday night after police say he tried to elude police after he was caught speeding down Milton Road on his 4-wheeler.
Christopher C. Crosby, 46, of 119 Milton Road, Apt. #13, was going south around 70 mph on Milton Road in the area of Market Basket when he was spotted by a Rochester officer who was headed north around 7:20 p.m.
"The officer turned around and put his lights on, but then the OHRV (Off highway recreational vehicle) also turned around and began to head north," said Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas today.
Crosby is said to have then driven up onto a sidewalk and hit a snowbank causing the 4-wheeler to flip onto its right side.
"Then he's trying to right the OHRV and get back on it when the officer catches up and takes him into custody," Thomas added.
Crosby was charged with disobeying an officer, resisting arrest or detention and reckless operation.
The posted speed limit in the area is 35 mph.
He was transported to Strafford County Jail pending an arraignment today.
