Drenching rain, gusty winds lead to power outages for 10,000 area households

Drenching rain and 50 mph gusts have toppled trees and brought down power lines today leaving more than 10,000 households in the Rochester area currently without power, including more than 1,000 in Rochester.

Winds from the coastal storm that came up the Eastern Seaboard over the weekend are expected to slowly subside through the afternoon, but wind and rain advisories remain in effect till early Tuesday.

Lebanon, Maine, elementary schoolchildren were sent home this morning not long after arriving to school, but Noble High School in North Berwick remains open.

According to CMP and Eversource websites, outage numbers are as follows.

Barrington, 1314; Dover,353; Farmington, 316; Rochester, 1,018; Somersworth, 256; Milton, 660; Berwick, 3,912; Lebanon, 3,394

Skies will partially clear overnight, however occasional showers will also linger throughout Tuesday.

Temps will remain mild throughout the storm with a high close to 60 today.

Skies are predicted clear from Wednesday through Christmas day, when a high of 47 is forecast.
