ROCHESTER - A Dover was arrested on Saturday for drunken driving and speeding after police say he led them on a high-speed chase on the Spaulding Turnpike.
New Hampshire State police said the incident unfolded around 3 a.m. when a trooper spotted Michael McNamara, 30, headed north on the Spaulding going 86 mph.
McNamara initially stopped for police, but then he fled as the trooper approached the vehicle.
The trooper gave chase and followed the suspect onto Old Dover Road where the trooper ended the chase for safety reasons.
The driver, meanwhile, went down a road with no outlet off Old Dover Road, got out of his vehicle and surrendered.
McNamara faces charges of aggravated DWI, reckless operation and disobeying an officer. He'll be arraigned next month.
State Police were assisted by Rochester Police.
