DOVER - A former Dover Police officer had his certificate to work in law enforcement revoked earlier this week for lying about a high speed chase that led to a fiery crash in which two Rochester men died.
Killian Kondrup's certification was revoked on after appearing at a hearing before the New Hampshire Police Standards and Training Council on Tuesday.
The fatal crash that killed Joseph A. Bougie, 32, and Michael J. Murphy, 22, occurred on March 18 around 12:25 a.m., according to Dover Police who reported at the time that an officer had happened upon the scene on Sixth Street near Longhill Road to find Bougie's BMW had crashed into a utility pole and was fully engulfed in flame.
It is not clear if Kondrup was the first officer on scene, but less than a month later he was fired for lying "by omission" about his involvement in a police pursuit of the two men, who had spent time at a Dover bar earlier that evening, according to police.
Murphy was the father of two young children. Bougie was formerly from Sanford.
Based on the condition of the vehicle and evidence at the scene, police believe the vehicle was traveling at a high rate of speed when it crashed.
