CENTER BARNSTEAD - Donovan E. Funk II, 58, of Danbury Road, Center Barnstead, died unexpectedly on Jan. 23, 2024.

Don was born on March 9, 1965, in Cranston, R.I. to David Funk and Joan (Matteson) Funk.

Don grew up in Farmington, and graduated from FHS class of 1983. From there he served in the Marine Corp for the next three years. He then took a job at Strafford County House of Corrections as a correctional officer. In 1987 he joined the Rochester Police Department and worked there until he retired in August of 2020. He wore many different hats throughout his career, patrolman, detective, juvenile prosecutor, housing authority officer and his all time favorite role as the School Resource Officer.

Don enjoyed a variety of activities. He loved camping with his family, hanging out under the carport or back deck grilling. Sunday fires listening to the Patriots on the radio. He also loved his WWE Wrestling, especially on his big screen. He loved sitting on the front porch watching the birds and waving to the cars passing by with the best cup of coffee. His biggest love was his boys, watching them play sports, coaching them, seeing them graduate from college and become the men they are today. He was looking forward to the upcoming years and watching the grandkids, he was the best Pappa.

He was predeceased by his father David Funk. He is survived by his three sons. Donovan Funk III and his wife Devin, and their children Dakota and Dani. Nick Funk and his girlfriend Maggie Brunelle and the beloved Rocky. Johnathan Funk and his wife Brittany, and their children Madison, Ryder, and Easton. He also leaves behind his fiancé, Denise, her son Trevor Stuart, fiancé Ashley and children Charlotte, Alex and Jordan. Brother Dave Funk and his wife Diane, brother Michael Funk and his wife Susan, and his mother Joan Funk. He also left behind several nieces and nephews that all held a special place in his heart.
