SOMERSWORTH - Diana Lynn Chasse (Hodgkins), 76, of Somersworth died on Jan. 2, 2025, after a several years battle with cancer while holding hands with her beloved husband and soulmate of 56 years, Lucien Chasse.
Born Nov. 8, 1948, Diana was the first child of Patricia (Field) and Gordon W. Hodgkins, Sr. Her earliest childhood years were in Detroit, Maine, followed by moves to Hope, Camden, Rockport and North Berwick where her grandfather, Earle Hodgkins, Sr. operated woolen mills.
A few years after graduating from Noble High School in 1967, "Di" met "Lu" and together, they established homes in Somersworth and Barrington. Di used her artistic talent to create a warm and welcoming home both inside with her beautifully detailed do-it- yourself decorating and outside with extensive English country
cottage style flower gardens that attracted an infinite variety of birds and wildlife.
Her gift for storytelling combined with an astonishing memory could entertain family and friends for hours with recollections of the past.
For decades Diana was employed at General Electric in Somersworth. There her artistic talents motivated her to draw detailed schematic manuals that were utilized for instructional purposes at the plant.
Diana is survived by her husband, Lucien Chasse, sister Ann Elida Carver, brother Vernon Earle Hodgkins, sister-in-law Monique Chasse and by many nieces, nephews, and cousins as well as by pampered felines Loki and Moxie. She was predeceased by her parents, and by brothers Gordon, Jr. and John, and by her friend
and stepson John "Johnny" Chasse.
