ROCHESTER - Daniel Ladisheff of Rochester, passed into the arms of his Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on Saturday, September 11, 2021, at the age of 80.
Born the youngest of 5 to Reverend Nickifor and Mary (Harlack) Ladisheff in Passaic, N.J. He is survived by his wife of 27 years, Donna Lemay Ladisheff; his children, Christopher Ladisheff of Rochester; Kimberly Ladisheff of Berwick, ME; Katherine Cooper (Scott) of Salt Lake City, UT; Shawn Cota (Maryann) of Rochester; William Wood (Becky) of Somersworth; Brian Wood (Tracy) of Rochester; 13 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, his siblings Lillian, Harry (Marianne) and Esther (Paul); and many nieces, nephews and friends. He was preceded in death by his former wife and mother of his two eldest children, Sandra Spellman; his daughter-in-law, Robin Ladisheff; and his brother Walter.
Dan served 5 years in the US Marine Corp attaining the rank of Sgt. He was proud to serve as a Gunnery Sergeant on Guatamano Bay, Cuba after the Bay of Pigs. He was a respected businessman and natural leader. He started his own business, Somersworth Paint and Wallpaper, which he ran successfully for forty years. He then briefly retired, before buying Lilac City Taxi, which he operated for ten years.
Throughout his life he served in many leadership and community roles: as a Somersworth Boy Scout Troop 197 leader, former Somersworth police commissioner, former president of Somersworth Lion's Club, a coach for Somersworth Girls Softball Assoc., church deacon and elder, and was instrumental in founding the STA Ice Hockey program - serving as its first president. He also carried a pilot's license flying Cessna's and served in the Civil Air Patrol.
His greatest legacy is his love of his family. He was a devoted husband and father, often doing projects with them at their homes. Later in life, he loved quiet nights with his wife, fishing with Chris and busy family get togethers.
