DOVER - If you ever in the area of Strafford Superior Court around lunchtime on a weekday check out the Court Jester in the basement of the county building.
Last week while covering a trial we stopped by for lunch where Chef Dave had a good looking homemade chili ready to serve.
We opted for something lighter, a chicken salad sitting on a bed of veggies, but while it was light, it was definitely a salad that got you through the rest of your day.
Underneath close to eight ounces of tasty, fresh chicken salad were an assortment of veggies any fine dining on haute cuisine joint would be proud of.
On top of the fancy greens were red onions, big chunks of tomatoes, cucumbers, red and green peppers and grated carrots.
There was also plenty of Paul Newman dressings to guarantee you wouldn't run out of dressing before you finished your meal.
All that with a bag of chips for $6.
Wash it down with a cup of New England brand coffee for a buck.
If I'd been leaving after lunch I could've taken the rest home for a second meal, but with another court session lurking after lunch I had to just pig out.
If you decide to try the Court Jester, be prepared to go through a metal detector.
The courthouse is located at 259 County Farm Road, Dover.
