DOVER - A Rochester man who works as a corrections officer at Strafford County Jail is on the other side of the bars today after being arrested for allegedly trying to bring heroin into the facility as he arrived for work on Wednesday.
Bryant Shipman, 25, was detained as he arrived to work his shift, according to an email sent from Strafford County Sheriff David Dubois late Wednesday night.
Shipman was detained before entering the housing area of the facility, a press release noted.
Police did not disclose how much heroin was seized, where it was found or whether or not it had been intended for Shipman's use or for distribution within the facility.
He was charged with one felony count of Delivery of Articles.
Shipman is being held on $35,000 bail pending an arraignment today in Strafford County Superior Court.
This arrest was as a result of a joint investigation conducted by the Strafford County Sheriff's Office, Strafford County Department of Corrections and federal partnerships with the United States Marshals Service and ICE. In addition, deputies were assisted on scene by the Dover Police Department and Rochester Police K-9.
