ROCHESTER - Police on Thursday released a photo of the right front side of the tractor-trailer that struck a pedestrian walking along Rochester Hill Road earlier in the day.
The accident occurred around 6:15 a.m. near Profile Apartments when the man who was walking northbound in the same direction of the truck stepped into its path, police say.
When responders first arrived they found the tractor-trailer pulled off on the northbound side of the road. About 20 feet past the tractor-trailer unit they found a man lying on the pavement in the northbound lane of travel.
The victim, who still has not been identified, was flown by DHART helicopter to Maine Medical Center in Portland.
The victim's condition is unknown, and since his identity is unknown, The Lebanon Voice has no means of finding out his current status.
The driver of the semi was not injured.
Route 108 was shut down to traffic for a short time.
Rochester Police were assisted on scene by New Hampshire State Police Troop G (Commercial Vehicle Enforcement).
Police say there are no charges pending against the driver, and neither speed nor alcohol appear to be factors, however the accident is still under investigation.
