CONCORD - A Concord transient was arrested on Sunday after police say he stole an Amazon truck and led police on a I-93 chase through Hooksett and Manchester before ditching the vehicle on a dead-end street.
The incident unfolded around 2:45 p.m. when Concord Police received a report of a stolen Amazon delivery truck that was taken while making deliveries on South Fruit Street.
The vehicle was tracked by cell phone through company assets and found to be on Interstate 93 South, where troopers attempted a motor vehicle stop in Hooksett.
The vehicle failed to stop, however, and troopers began a pursuit that traveled through Hooksett and Manchester, where the vehicle ultimately came to a dead-end on Elm Street.
The driver then exited the vehicle but refused to comply with commands given by troopers, who deployed K-9 Ragnar who finally apprehended the suspect.
Richard Royea, 40, was taken to Concord Hospital to be evaluated and treated for injuries. A trooper on scene was also admitted to the hospital for minor injuries and was discharged.
Royea was charged with receiving stolen property, resisting arrest/detention, aggravated DWI, disobeying police, reckless operation and operating without a license.
Concord Police will also be charging him with motor vehicle theft.
Royea refused bail and will be arraigned in Merrimack Superior Court with a pending court date.
