ROCHESTER - Comcast today announced it has completed the expansion of its network of all city-certified streets in Rochester. The expansion provides Rochester residents and businesses a new choice for TV, internet, voice, home security and wireless services.
"I'm appreciative of Comcast's investment in extending its network in Rochester," said Blaine Cox, Rochester city manager. "Comcast fulfilled its promises and delivered a suite of communications services for our residents and businesses empowering them to have a choice in their service provider. We're delighted to have them in the Lilac City."
The expansion benefits Rochester's more than 30,000 residents and the city's growing business community. Rochester is already recognized as one of the most business-friendly cities in New Hampshire. The city is rated "A+" for business friendliness by Thumbtack, and the Rochester Economic Development Corporation provides business owners with a litany of resources and information on programs, incentives, and financing solutions.
"We are thrilled by the overwhelmingly positive response to our Xfinity and Comcast Business products and services from residents and business owners in Rochester," said Trevor Arp, Senior Vice President for Comcast's Greater Boston Region, which includes his home state of New Hampshire. "I want to thank all of our employees for their great work on this project, especially our passionate and dedicated engineering, construction and technical operations teams.''
With this expansion, Comcast is now available in 104 communities in the Granite State, and proudly employs nearly 2,000 people here as well. Work is also currently under way to further extend Comcast's network to serve Laconia and Gilford in the months ahead.
In addition to Gigabit internet service and unique home WiFi control capabilities with xFi, residential customers in the city have access to all Xfinity services, including the award-winning Xfinity X1 video platform, Xfinity Home, Xfinity Voice and Xfinity Mobile, and businesses in these areas can get the full suite of Comcast Business products and services, including Ethernet network speeds up to 100 Gigabits-per-second.
Comcast continues to invest in its New Hampshire network to meet consumer demand, providing among the fastest, most reliable internet speeds over its fiber-rich network, and one of the fastest in-home Wi-Fi experiences. Comcast also offers Internet Essentials, the national's largest and most comprehensive broadband adoption program, providing low-cost broadband service, digital literacy training and discounted computers.
Of note, Granite State businesses have selected Comcast Business as the #1 telecom provider for the last nine years in a row as part of the annual BOB/Best of Business Award from the readers of New Hampshire Business Review.
