City holds land conservation info forum March 15

ROCHESTER - The Rochester Conservation Commission is hosting an outreach event next Wednesday at 5:30 p.m. to provide information about land conservation opportunities for local landowners.

A panel of presenters will share their experiences and perspectives on conservation approaches and offer guidance on initiating the process.

In the past, the commission has found that some landowners inquire about conserving their land when they no longer have enough time to explore their options fully. Many do not realize that completing a conservation project often takes more than a year, according to a statement released from the city on Wednesday.

Additionally, the programs that help fund conservation projects operate on strict schedules. If an application deadline has passed, an applicant must wait for the next year's funding cycle. The commission hopes this event will empower landowners with the necessary information to make informed decisions about their land.

This event is free and open to the public. It will be held at Public Works, 209 Chestnut Hill Road, Rochester, and light refreshments will be provided.
