Police and the state fire marshal today confirmed the dead man to be 44-year-old Arthur "Chip" Cardinal Jr.

However, the manner and cause of death are still not confirmed pending the completion of an investigation by the New Hampshire State Fire Marshal's Office, New Hampshire State Police Major Crime Unit and Farmington Police Department, which is still ongoing.

Safety officials in a statement also did not confirm Cardinal as the owner or renter of the residence.
