Diane DeVries, a former board of directors vice president of the Greater Rochester Chamber of Commerce, who co-wrote the lyrics for a song about Rochester to honor the Granite State Choral Society's 40th anniversary, is being mourned after her death last month.
DeVries passed away at her Milton home on Feb. 11 following a long illness, according to her obituary, which appears in The Rochester Voice today. She was 46.
The Rochester Chamber of Commerce announced DeVries death earlier this week, also noting that a Celebration of Life for DeVries is set for Tuesday from noon-4 p.m. at the Seacoast Science Center at 570 Ocean Blvd. at Odiorne Point State Park in Rye.
"Diane was very active with the Chamber for many years," said Chamber President and CEO Laura Ring.
DeVries served on several chamber committees as well as on the chamber board from 2014-2017.
"Through her graphic design business, Diane assisted and got to know many in the business community," Ring added.
DeVries' graphic design and marketing company, Digrafika, helped many small businesses improve their brand awareness. Many of the logos she created can be seen across the Seacoast region today.
According to her obituary, she sang for nearly 20 years with the Granite State Choral Society, was an accomplished equestrian learning to ride dressage and became a black belt in Tae Kwon Do.
Later in life she became very active in the UNH Extension's NH Sea Grant program. Through her tenure there she grew the volunteer base and enjoyed many experiences visiting the Isles of Shoals.
