ROCHESTER - A popular downtown parking lot often used when municipal lots are full will be shut down the rest of June and into July, while the City of Rochester transitions the former Ben Franklin store lot into the city's newest municipal lot to serve downtown parking needs.
The former Ben Franklin lot, located at the corner of Wakefield and Union streets, will be closed for more than a month while the city refurbishes the area, installs new light poles and other improvements.
Repaving and striping is tentatively set for July.
During construction the building on the property will be further secured.
For safety reasons, entry and parking on the property will be prohibited throughout the construction period.
