DOVER - A motorcyclist was seriously injured in a crash on the Spaulding Turnpike on Wednesday.
The accident occurred around 8:45 p.m. in the area of Exit 7 in Dover in the southbound lanes.
A preliminary investigation by State Police troopers revealed that a 2004 Yamaha YZF-R6 motorcycle, operated by Yorky Acosta Hernandez, 20, of Chicopee, Mass., had been traveling southbound when for reasons that remain under investigation he lost control of the motorcycle while negotiating a curve, resulting in the motorcycle departing the left side of the road and striking a guardrail located in the center median.
Following the impact with the guardrail, the motorcycle continued traveling south for a short distance, during which time Hernandez was thrown from the bike, according to police. Hernandez and the motorcycle eventually came to rest in the travel portion of the highway. Hernandez was transported by ambulance to an area hospital for treatment of serious but nonlife-threatening injuries.
All aspects of the crash remain under further investigation by Trooper Kevin Ledoux of the Troop A barracks. Anyone with information that may assist in the investigation is asked to contact Trooper Ledoux via email at Kevin.P.Ledoux@DOS.NH.GOV.
