Barrington man nabbed for DWI, conduct after ax

ROCHESTER - A Barrington man was arrested for drunken driving and leaving the scene after the car he was driving crashed into a telephone pole on Portland Street early today.

Police arrested Jeffrey Call of 50 Province Road, Barrington, N.H., after officers and a K9 unit tracked him down a short distance from where he crashed in the area of 319 Portland St. around 1:30 a.m.

The telephone pole was sheared in two, and Call’s car sustained heavy front-end damage.

Call was charged with DWI and conduct after an accident. He was bailed on $2,000 personal recognizance pending an arraignment next month in the 7th Circuit – Rochester District Court.

The fallen telephone pole partially blocked a portion of the roadway and wires were strewn for a time about the vehicle. The road was shut down during the investigation and a short period afterward. The vehicle was towed from the scene.

Rochester Police, Rochester Fire and Frisbie EMS responded to the scene.
