Back yard intruder call ends up netting capias scofflaw on drug possession charge

GONIC - What started out as a 12:30 a.m. call for a suspected back yard intruder on Trinity Circle ended up with the arrest of a neighborhood man on drug possession charges.

It all began with a call from a Trinity Circle resident complaining that they thought someone was in their back yard, according to police log entries. The caller told dispatch that some homeless individuals had recently been camping in the nearby woods.

The caller "thought someone may be in his back yard but then heard a vehicle and provided a vehicle description," Rochester Police Capt. Jason Thomas said on Tuesday.

A responding officer then found the subject vehicle on Flagg Road and made contact with the driver at the Circle K.

A passenger in the vehicle was identified as Richard Scott Trueman, 36, of 22 Trinity Circle. He was found to have a capias out of Strafford County. Upon a search during his arrest he was also found in possession of scheduled drugs, subsequent charge.

Thomas noted the original "suspicious activity" call ended up being bogus as Trueman has a Trinity Circle address.
