ACTON, Maine - When you go to a biker bar on a beautiful Sunday afternoon you can count on two things: a lively crowd and live music.
At Iron Tails Saloon in Acton, Maine, we got the trifecta with a delicious pulled pork sandwich, the best french fries we've had in years and cole slaw that was neither too tart nor too sweet.
And the Jose Cuervo margarita wasn't too shabby either. It was as close to mine as anyone's I've ever tried, with just the right amount of Triple sec.
Nice one, Vinnie.
Iron Tails is one of those larger biker bars, yet it has a cozy, relaxed atmosphere with plenty of outdoor nooks and crannies to plant yourself for a beer. Also on hand was a very talented four-piece band called the Pub Pirates, who started playing a little after noon on Sunday.
But back to the food. The pulled pork was tangy with a hint of sweetness, while the hand-cut fries were nice and brown and melt-in-you-mouth tender.
And as you can see, they don't just give you one or two pickles to enjoy with you pulled pork sandwich. They give you a bunch.
With super friendly wait staff at the bar, a good band playing southern rock up on the stage and the sound of more bikes rumbling in by the minute, this was not a bad place to be on a Sunday afternoon.
As you can see I got my sandwich without the bread as they had no gluten free options.
So I loss some calories along the way. Winning!
Iron Tails is located at 559 Route 109 in Acton, Maine, across from the Acton Fairgrounds.
