Artisan weekend looks to build another tradition

WEST LEBANON - Tuckaway Tree Farms owners Lynne Park and Sue Adams are all about traditions and in the next couple of months they hope to start two more.

First, this weekend, they’ll hold an inaugural Open House and Artisan Weekend, which will be attended by about 15 crafters who will showcase their wares amid Tuckaway’s bucolic setting at the corner of Shapleigh and Dixon roads in West Lebanon.

Examples of locally made products for sale will include wood turned bowls and writing instruments, block prints, pottery, water color paintings and pencil sketchings, knitted angora wool products, handmade mittens and hats, primitive art, log furniture and local jams and jellies. In addition, the Lebanon Ladies Circle will have specialty food items available for purchase and will be donating all proceeds to the Lebanon Scholarship fund.

Also co-participating in this weekend event are Prospect Hill Winery and Belgian Meadows Farm, which will be offering hayrides. Prospect Hill Winery, whose wines are all handcrafted from Lebanon grapes grown at the winery, offers a full line of dry wines that are perfect as holiday gifts or enjoying with any meal.

The Open House weekend will also feature bluegrass music.

Another tradition-building event a couple of months away is the much-anticipated harvesting of pick and cut your own Christmas Trees at Tuckaway. Park and Adams have been nurturing the young trees since they were seedlings back in 2005 and many are now ready to enjoy this Christmastime. 

They also handcraft wood products from local forests for display in their shop.

Open House and Artisan Weekend is this Saturday and Sunday and is a rain or shine event. Show hours are set both days at 9 a.m.-4 p.m.
