ROCHESTER - Firefighters made quick work of a fire at Arthur's Market on Thursday, but not before heavy smoke damage closed the store and threatened much of their inventory.
Rochester Fire got the call a little before 9 a.m. and arrived to find heavy smoke in the building, especially the attic area where a store sign had apparently malfunctioned and the blaze began, fire officials said.
It is estimated as much as half of the store's inventory might have to be tossed.
Whether or not they would open today was unclear as of this posting.
The store closed on Thursday around 11 a.m.
Somersworth Fire, Milton Fire and Rescue and Durham Fire Department all responded to the scene.
