ROCHESTER - It's been 10 days since Service Credit Union opened its South Main Street branch to walk-in traffic, and Assistant Vice President for Member Services Matt Beaulieu says it has members cheering as they walk in the door.
"The reaction from members has been positive. They appreciate that we are open and also glad we are taking the steps to keep everyone safe," Beaulieu said on Tuesday. "Members are even celebrating when they come to the door; they missed being able to walk into our lobby."

Service Credit Union reopened their lobby on June 1, Beaulieu noted, after utilizing an appointment-based system through the month of May, and limiting visits to drive-thru only prior to that.
He said their branches all maintain social distancing between members and staff and are outfitted with Plexiglas between members and tellers. He said they also ask that customers wear a mask.
They also keep a close watch on occupancy, he said, only allowing a one to one ratio between staff and members in the lobby at one time.
Beaulieu said when the lobby begins to fill beyond that, they have staff stand at the door and regulate the flow into the branch.
He said that rarely happens as the Rochester branch has a large lobby.
Beaulieu added that traversing this difficult time during the COVID-19 pandemic has been trying, but said it's gone smoother than he could have imagined thanks to the understanding from members and the effort of SCU employees
"We are very appreciative of our members who have been so cooperative and supportive while we've made a number of changes to how we operate," he said. "There is definitely a sense that we are all in this together, and we are grateful to them, as well as our rock star staff."
Service Credit Union's lobbies are open at many of their branches with the exception of those inside Walmart stores.
