Anne Athans ... 30-year English teacher at PJH

NORTH BERWICK, Maine - Anne Kargas Athans, 94 of North Berwick, and longtime resident of Dover, N.H., died Friday December 17, 2021 at her home with her family by her side.

She was born in Dover January 11, 1927, the daughter of Gregory and Zafiro (Papaleonidas) Kargas, and resided in this area all of her life.

Anne graduated from Dover High School Class of 1945; and from the University of New Hampshire in 1949, where she received a Bachelor's Degree and her teacher certification.

Anne was an English teacher at Portsmouth Junior High School for 30 years

She was a member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox Church in Dover, where she was a member of the choir and the Alkistis Society.

The widow of John Athans, who died in 2009, she is survived by two sons Gregory (Laura) Athans of North Berwick and John (Geriann) Athans of Dover; 6 grandchildren Peter, Nicolas, Olivia, Andreas, Alexander and Joanna; and several great grandchildren.
