FARMINGTON - On Dec. 16 around 10 a.m. the Galloway family will get the Christmas present of a lifetime.
That's when Southeastern New Hampshire Habitat for Humanity will give another Veteran family the keys to their new home located on Richards Way.
SENH Habitat partnered with local organizations, corporations, and various supporters for this construction project and look forward to presenting Marine Frank "Mikey" Galloway with the keys to his family's beautiful new home.
The Galloways will celebrate this new chapter while surrounded by SENH Habitat's Board of Directors, Staff, family, friends, and many of the volunteers and local businesses who helped build the house.
SENH Habitat was fortunate to receive the Richards Way lot for the Galloway home from an Air Force Veteran couple, according to SENH Habitat, who said in a recent press release that the cost of purchasing land or property in New Hampshire has become one of the most significant challenges for keeping housing affordable. Over the last year, the organization was blessed to have had more than 1,000 local volunteers roll up their sleeves and participate in the building of SENH Habitat's newest "Veteran Partner Family" in Farmington.
"This is what it's all about," said Marcie Bergan, Executive Director of SENH Habitat. "This is the day that we celebrate all of you working alongside this deserving family who will turn this house into their forever home." SENH Habitat broke ground on the "Galloway Project" in August of 2021, utilizing a village of volunteers, community members, and local businesses who generously donated their time, in-kind services, and construction materials bringing this energy-efficient home to its completion.
The Galloway family expressed how this experience with SENH Habitat has been such a grand, overwhelming adventure.
"It's been an incredibly humbling experience, working alongside some of the most generous, gracious and loving people we have ever met," said Mikey and Stephanie Galloway. "We are completely blown away that our dream of home ownership we have been fighting to achieve for the last eight years is finally about to be a reality."
