SOMERSWORTH - For the second time in one day Somersworth Police were dealing on Tuesday with a potential threat, only this time an arrest was made.
The incident unfolded in the early evening hours when Somersworth Police became aware of a social media posting purporting to be from a Somersworth High School student.
The posting, allegedly from a social media account belonging to the student, essentially stated that the student, "liked to threaten to shoot up schools."
Detectives from the Somersworth Police Department immediately began an investigation into the posting and its origin. As a result of that investigation, detectives found that the post was created by another student pretending to be someone else.
The student that created the false post has been arrested and charged with Attempted Falsification of Physical Evidence, with charges of False Public Alarm likely to follow.
The age of the student arrested was not immediately available.
Earlier on Tuesday police said they investigated a different school threat but found it was unable to be substantiated so no charges are expected.
According to police, they learned that School Resource Officer Colton Deschenes and High School staff had received information of an alleged statement made by a Somersworth High School student saying they were "going to shoot up the school."
The statement was allegedly made to another student within the last week.
The student said to have made the threat was immediately removed from class, searched and interviewed. No weapons of any type were found on the student or the student's property.
That threat could not be substantiated and no charges are expected, police said.
