SANGERVILLE, Maine - The Maine Warden Service is investigating Tuesday ATV crash in Sangerville that took the life of an 11-year-old Sangerville boy.
At approximately 4:15 p.m. the Maine Warden Service was called to an ATV crash on the East Sangerville Road, where an 11-year-old boy was unresponsive after an ATV crash.
After a preliminary investigation it was learned that after helping with some chores at a neighboring friend's property, the 11-year-old boy had gone for an ATV ride on that friend's property on an ATV he had used before that was owned by the family friend. When the boy did not return, the neighbor went to look for the boy, and found him on the trail, unresponsive with the ATV on top of him.
The neighbor called 911, and got help to remove the ATV, and those at the scene performed CPR on the boy until a Piscataquis Sherriff Deputy arrived and took over performing CPR. Emergency medical personnel arrived soon after and were unable to revive the boy who died at the scene, according to a statement sent Wednesday by the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife.
The crash remains under investigation by the Maine Warden Service.
