ROCHESTER - Nancy A. Rose, 87, of Rochester, died Tuesday, December 6, 2016, at home following a period of failing health. She was born November 22, 1929, in Berwick, Maine.
After her graduation from Berwick High School, she enlisted in the Armed Service. She was extremely proud to have served her country as a member of the Woman's Army Corps as a "WAC". She was stationed at Fort Bragg where she met and married her ex-husband William L. Rose. After her honorable discharge from the service, she moved to Rochester.
She was briefly employed by the Portsmouth Naval Shipyard as a computer operator and continued in civil service positions in Florida and Georgia before moving back to Rochester. She went to work at Davidson Rubber in Farmington until she retired after 20 years.
While at Davidson, she met her lifelong friend, Mary Smith and enjoyed camping, collecting rocks and all the countless adventures they shared together.
Members of her family include her daughters and sons-in-law, Linda and Howard Hawkins, Sherry and Thomas Ducharme, six grandchildren; Jennifer, Heidi, Kristen, Peter, Paul, and Tisha, 15 great-grandchildren, her sisters Norma Bullis, Ellen Tebbetts and her husband Donald, her sister Irene Rand and several nieces and nephews. She is also survived by her lifelong friend and primary caregiver, Mary Smith and Mary's daughter Betty Keagan and her family.
She is predeceased by her parents, Beth and Norman Willey, her brother David Willey, her sister Isabelle and her first born great grandson, Kyle Barnes.
